Keith Pascal is an author of books and ebooks on martial arts and magic. He also edits several ezines and newsletters, including Martial Arts Mastery, one of the longest running martial-arts newsletters on the Net.

Keith Pascal’s emphasis has always been on practical-application martial arts. There are no rules on the street.

 

What’s Keith’s Martial Arts background?

Keith started with judo when he was six years old. In his teens, he spent time in both Tae Kwon Do and Shotokan Karate, but he considers his martial awakening to have begun when he met Steve Golden, an original Bruce Lee and Ed Parker student.
Keith Pascal started full time with Steve in 1980, and even though nowadays he only sees Steve a few times a year, he still considers him his primary instructor.

Keith holds teacher’s certification in both Twin Dragons Gung Fu and Jeet Kune Do (JKD).

 

What formal education does Keith Pascal have?

Keith’s earned a B.A. in Italian from the University of Oregon in 1983, and then went on to a Master’s in Spanish, and the Art of Teaching. (His M.A. was in Spanish emphasizing teaching methodologies.)

While earning his M.A., Keith taught Italian and Spanish on a Graduate Teaching Fellowship.

He also earned both Basic and Standard Oregon teaching certification, K — 12.

What’s the Wrist Locks connection to Keith?

Keith Pascal wrote Wrist Locks: From Protecting Yourself to Becoming an Expert in 1999. It quickly became a critically acclaimed martial success. The book combined wrist locks from a variety of styles and included some author-invented locks, too.
And the book took its reader beyond technique. Counters, reversals and practical usage were emphasized.

Keith wrote articles and a few ebooklets on more wrist locks and joint locks.

Then, in 2010, he revised and updated Wrist Locks.

This new, soft-cover edition, features some new locks, 423 new photographs, and two never-before-seen bonus chapters.

For years, Keith Pascal tried to deny the title of being a wrist locks expert. Now, modestly, he admits that he might have a “thing or three to say on the subject.”

Keith Pascal has been married to his wife, Kate, for almost two decades. They have one daughter, in her teens.
