Don’t be turned off by the bits of promotion on this site; it’s a site that has lots of information — enough to earn it next to the top spot out of over 400 submitted websites to the 2012 Top 50 Security Guard Training Websites list.
Crime Doctor is very valuable to novices in the security guard industry. This is the kind of “meat” we were looking for, when we first started reviewing sites. Lots and lots of useful articles worth exploring.
The site owner, Chris E. McGoey, provides us with everything you need to improve your knowledge in the field. And while you should read article after article on this website, there is a navigation feature that you won’t like. Not only that, this mistake that Mr. McGoey’s web designers are making is costing him better placement in the search engines. (I’m pretty sure Google is sandbagging him for it.)
What am I talking about?
The Nav Bar across the top sends you to a lot of “repeated pages.” For example, Expert Witness and Security Consulting are virtually the same. And Site Index is identical to Security Advice. This is a big turn-off to both search engines and actual visitors.
There, I had to get the negative out of the way. Now …
I urge you to look beyond this small mistake. McGoey is not doing this to pad his web site. There is no need to make it look bigger. You’ll find articles on the use of excessive force, security guarding in convenience stores, racial profiling, and the list goes on.
Are you ready for these safety nuggets …
Be sure to check out this site throughly; you are going to find some special nuggets. For example, click on personal safety videos (to the left), and you’ll get taken directly to a FREE crime prevention video library.
When you’re done with the videos, move on to other areas, like Self-Defense. In the self-defense section, they talk all about chemical sprays. (Hmm, maybe I should approach the designers and owner with some of my books and ebooks, especially Wrist Locks.)
I’ll leave you with one fun feature of this top-rated security guard training website: I appreciate the statistics about crime that are fed like a mini-slide show in the upper right hand corner of the Crime Doctor web site. Very informative.
Now, go take a look: http://www.crimedoctor.com/crime.htm
And be sure to congratulate them on making it to the Top 50 Security Guard Training Sites list.
